Construction Update: September, 2022

Date : 2021-03-04

Our Project Manager will provide progress updates with photos so existing buyers and future buyers can see the progress of their villas. Buyers and prospective buyers can request site progress videos to get a clear picture of the resorts progress.

Update: September 5th, 2022

    1. We made slow progress over the past 12 months. The political unrest, and economic issues caused major disruption to the entire building industry. Whilst this slowed down progress, we did manage to get yet another villa underway. And we installed some very important retaining walls in the resort. One of these included a bridge structure so we could retain the natural contours of the property. This is one of the signature properties of the resort. We are temporarily in a holding pattern with the project until we can see stability return to the market. We will be aiming to get the site activated again Q1, 2023. The revised estimated completion date will be December 2024. Whilst the recent turmoil in the country was not ideal, Sri Lanka has a long history of bouncing back from issues. We believe this will be no different and can already see positive signs in the rebuild. We are still confident of the tourism industry and look forward to creating one of the countries signature resorts.
Three of the single villas already have pool structures installed. The temporary roofs are on whilst we await the finished roof product from overseas. These roof structures come with a 20-year warranty, have little to no maintenance and give the exact look and feel of a tropical thatched roof.

    1. We have made good progress over the past few months. We are already onto the second structure of the three-structure villa at the top of the property (you can see this in the top header of this page). This villa is quite a feat of engineering. The second structure has been carved into the mountain with part of the structure floating. The third structure will be completely floating on a superstructure. No doubt, this will be another signature building on the property. The other two-bedroom villa will also 'float' and provide incredible 'insta' moments.

Update: March 5th, 2021
            1. The Plantation Luxury Villas Resort is well under construction. The first villa is already at structure completion with the roof work on-going. Roofing work on the first villa will be completed over the next 10 days. A second villa around 1 weeks away from structure completion stage. The third villa will be structure completion in around 3 weeks, with the remaining villas 6 weeks away.
            1. Roof work will be completed on the first villa (Lot 9) 'Villa Ranawara' within four weeks. Within twelve weeks from today, all remaining villas will also have roofing completed. The villa specifications are extremely high quality. The developer is using high specifications for the build. Bluestone foundations, 9" thick walls for the main structure, teak flooring, teak windows and luxury finishes throughout.
            1. Currently the site is being segmented according to the structure level, the access road has been made, site sheds complete and offices built. The swimming pool and bar area is being leveled.
            1. Purchasers of The Plantation luxury Villas will be guaranteed delivery within 12 months from their deposit. Based on actual progress, and with the additional skilled work-force employed, villas are now estimated to take approximately 6 - 8 months each (weather depending).
            1. Our local peacock's residents seem to be impressed with the pace of the build and the macaque monkeys give their 'hu hu hu hu' approval from the trees.
            1. The main photo in the web header gives you a great visual of the structure stage of latest villa we are constructing.
Thank-you and we look forward to welcoming you The Plantation site soon.
            1. Yours,
Ramzen Project Manager The Plantation, Sri Lanka
